If you ask me about the foreign artists that I like the most, Sting will be number one in this rather short list. His songs are always easily recognized, because they are invariably distinguished by the originality of their sound: sometimes by an amazing simplicity and almost archaic composition and unison arrangement, and sometimes by an incredibly subtle, complex, artful texture woven from hundreds of tiny details, which you listen to over and over again and still, as if looking into a kaleidoscope, you find more and more new fragments. Sting's texts are quite ambiguous in translation into Russian, leaving space for their own understanding of the meaning of a particular sentence, although it seems to me that in the UK, USA and other countries, his fans also sometimes have to solve such verbal and semantic puzzles. And this, in fact, always arouses a certain interest. His book" Broken Music " at one time also left me a lot of questions, although it partly introduced me to the history and views on the world of this outstanding artist. For many years, Sting's favorite album for me was "...All This Time", the third live album recorded in Italy at the Villa Il Palagio on September 11, 2001, coinciding with the largest terrorist attack in history, because of which the performers decided to start the concert with the song "Fragile" and the minute of silence that followed it. With my warm sympathy for live albums, for "...All This Time", I often return even after 20 years and listen to it with constant pleasure. Well, the song, the piano version of which I present to your attention today, is one of Sting's most famous hits, along with the already mentioned "Fragile", as well as "Shape of My Heart", "Englishman in New York" and other songs that brought Sting fame all over the world. Included in the album "The Summoner's Tales" in 1993, "Fields of Gold" does not lose its popularity even now, after almost 30 years, and is regularly performed by various instrumentalists and vocalists around the world.
