Topics include: • Why clinical trials are important for improving standard care • The role of informed consent in research • How clinical trial phases work • Why trials are not guaranteed to work • The role of industry and sponsors in trial design • What costs may be covered by research funding versus insurance • How patients can make individualized decisions about trial participation This talk is helpful for patients, caregivers, and anyone interested in better understanding how clinical trials work and what to consider before joining one. _____________________________________________________________ ABOUT Neuroendocrine Cancer Patient Education Conference Atlanta, GA May 16, 2026 The Neuroendocrine Cancer Foundation (NCF) hosted a free, in-person educational conference at the Emory Winship Cancer Institute designed specifically for people living with neuroendocrine cancer and their caregivers. This one-day program brought together leading experts from Emory University, the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and Vanderbilt University to share practical, up-to-date information on the diagnosis and management of neuroendocrine cancer. Local and regional neuroendocrine cancer specialists presented the latest insights in neuroendocrine cancer care, including multidisciplinary approaches to surgery; advances in liver-directed therapy, systemic treatments, PRRT, and clinical trials; and emerging research on GLP-1 agents and neuroendocrine tumors. In addition to expert-led presentations, attendees heard patient stories and had the opportunity to engage directly with specialists during live Q&A sessions. The interactive format helped empower patients and caregivers with knowledge, confidence, and a clearer understanding of available treatment options and care pathways. Special thanks to Dr. Udhayvir Grewal for collaborating with NCF to make this event possible. For more information, visit https://www.ncf.net/events/atlanta.
