Systemic Therapy for Neuroendocrine Cancer: What Patients Need to Know • Dr. Gupta • 2026 Atlanta

In this video, Dr. Gupta discusses systemic treatment options for neuroendocrine cancer and how treatment decisions are made for patients with advanced or metastatic neuroendocrine tumors. The presentation explains how neuroendocrine cancer treatment has evolved over time, from earlier therapies like streptozotocin and octreotide to newer options such as targeted therapies, PRRT, and chemotherapy. Dr. Gupta also highlights the importance of choosing treatment based on each patient’s individual situation, including tumor type, primary site, grade, tumor burden, symptoms, receptor status, and other medical conditions. Topics include: • How systemic treatment for neuroendocrine cancer has evolved • Key factors that guide treatment decisions • Somatostatin analogs such as octreotide and lanreotide • Targeted therapies including everolimus and cabozantinib • PRRT with lutetium dotatate • Chemotherapy options such as capecitabine, temozolomide, platinum, and etoposide • The importance of patient-centered care and shared decision-making • Ongoing clinical trials and future treatment directions This talk is helpful for patients, caregivers, and anyone interested in learning more about current treatment options for neuroendocrine tumors. _____________________________________________________________ ABOUT Neuroendocrine Cancer Patient Education Conference Atlanta, GA May 16, 2026 The Neuroendocrine Cancer Foundation (NCF) hosted a free, in-person educational conference at the Emory Winship Cancer Institute designed specifically for people living with neuroendocrine cancer and their caregivers. This one-day program brought together leading experts from Emory University, the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and Vanderbilt University to share practical, up-to-date information on the diagnosis and management of neuroendocrine cancer. Local and regional neuroendocrine cancer specialists presented the latest insights in neuroendocrine cancer care, including multidisciplinary approaches to surgery; advances in liver-directed therapy, systemic treatments, PRRT, and clinical trials; and emerging research on GLP-1 agents and neuroendocrine tumors. In addition to expert-led presentations, attendees heard patient stories and had the opportunity to engage directly with specialists during live Q&A sessions. The interactive format helped empower patients and caregivers with knowledge, confidence, and a clearer understanding of available treatment options and care pathways. Special thanks to Dr. Udhayvir Grewal for collaborating with NCF to make this event possible. For more information, visit https://www.ncf.net/events/atlanta.
