Liver-Directed Therapy: Understanding Minimally Invasive Options to Treat Liver Tumors • Dr. Lilly

In this video, Dr. Lilly discusses liver-directed therapy and how minimally invasive procedures can be used to treat tumors in the liver. The presentation explains the role of interventional radiology, where image-guided techniques are used to deliver treatments directly to tumors through small catheters, wires, or targeted probes. Dr. Lilly also discusses how treatment decisions depend on factors such as tumor location, liver function, and a patient’s previous treatments. Topics include: • What liver-directed therapy is • How interventional radiology is used in cancer care • Catheter-based treatments such as bland embolization, chemoembolization, and radioembolization • Ablation techniques such as microwave ablation and cryoablation • How doctors choose the right procedure • What patients may expect before and after treatment • Common side effects such as fatigue, pain, and nausea This talk is helpful for patients, caregivers, and anyone interested in learning more about minimally invasive treatment options for liver tumors. _____________________________________________________________ ABOUT Neuroendocrine Cancer Patient Education Conference Atlanta, GA May 16, 2026 The Neuroendocrine Cancer Foundation (NCF) hosted a free, in-person educational conference at the Emory Winship Cancer Institute designed specifically for people living with neuroendocrine cancer and their caregivers. This one-day program brought together leading experts from Emory University, the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and Vanderbilt University to share practical, up-to-date information on the diagnosis and management of neuroendocrine cancer. Local and regional neuroendocrine cancer specialists presented the latest insights in neuroendocrine cancer care, including multidisciplinary approaches to surgery; advances in liver-directed therapy, systemic treatments, PRRT, and clinical trials; and emerging research on GLP-1 agents and neuroendocrine tumors. In addition to expert-led presentations, attendees heard patient stories and had the opportunity to engage directly with specialists during live Q&A sessions. The interactive format helped empower patients and caregivers with knowledge, confidence, and a clearer understanding of available treatment options and care pathways. Special thanks to Dr. Udhayvir Grewal for collaborating with NCF to make this event possible. For more information, visit https://www.ncf.net/events/atlanta.
